It's been a long time comin'! "Together Alone' comes out Friday on all of your favourite streaming platforms.

At the beginning of the pandemic, I had a rush of creativity and a bunch of music came pouring out of me. This was one of the tunes. I kept hearing that we were "in this together", but in so many ways it felt like it was just a lot of people stuck at home feeling really lonely. Don't worry, it's not too much of a bummer. The vibe is actually quite uplifting.

One of the coolest things about recording this set of songs was having my cousin Ben Henthorne back in the studio with me. We haven't worked together musically since Like A Martyr's last two releases from almost exactly ten years ago. We hadn't worked together in a decade! Time heals all wounds people. Ben and I didn't miss a beat. He laid down some beautifully scathing guitar riffs (as he always does) and we were even nice to each other the entire time. hahaha. Honestly, it was a really important moment for me and in some ways transcended the actual music we were producing.

So on Friday, come for the rock anthem, and stay for the extremely tasty Henthorne lead guitars.
Jeremy Allinghamtag:www.jeremyallingham.com,2005:Post/66131222021-04-24T23:20:36-07:002024-01-22T04:15:12-08:00NEW TUNES COMING SOON
It has been a long long while since I've given an update, but here it is. I'm ready to release new music. My new single 'Together Alone' will be released on May 28th. I recorded new material with Alex, my cousin Ben and Jesse Gander back in the fall, and the tunes have been done for a while. I'm not sure why, but up until this last week or so, I haven't felt ready to release them. After some serious health concerns within our family, my brain must've been jostled into action or something. I feel ready and excited to share.

I'm going to do a streaming show to go along with this first single release and there will be a video too. More info coming on all of that. While I'm at it here, check out some photos from the recording sessions at Raincity Recorders in East Vancouver.

Just wanted to give an update on what I'm up to. I'm playing and singing and writing songs for my next record, but my main focus right now is writing a book. I have a book deal with publisher Arsenal Pulp Press. The book is about the human fallout from fighting in hockey. I have done a lot of investigative journalism on the subject for the CBC and I'm having a great time building on that and learning how to be an author. I've written about a quarter of the book so far (plenty to go!), but I'm grinding almost every day and I'm happy with what I've produced so far.

Music is always on my mind and I've got lots of great ideas for the future, but for the next few months, that's on hold! Talk soon!!
Jeremy Allinghamtag:www.jeremyallingham.com,2005:Post/52931802018-06-13T09:12:00-07:002024-03-19T04:54:13-07:00Run Wild LIVE @ Milkcrate Records in Kelowna!
Had the pleasure of heading out on tour with Joshy-poo DKK to Kelowna and Vernon this past weekend. Here's a taste of RUN WILD performed at Milkcrate Records in Kelowna.

(LISTEN WHILE YOU READ!)

I want to tell you guys a bit more about these songs. Where they come from and what they mean.

Wasted Too Long is one of my favourites from RUN WILD. I've always loved songs that drip with nostalgia and that's what I aimed to do with this one. Right off the top:

"Back then we lost our memories in those liquor stores and on our lyric sheets...we gotta hold on before we're wasted too long."

That takes me back to playing in my high school band General Mayhem with Daniel and Daryl. We had an endless thirst for music, for friendship, for beer, for intensity and fun. And though I put a lot of work into those lyric sheets at the tender age of 16 or so, I don't know how comfortable I'd be reading them now. Maybe after a couple of those beers from the liquor store!

And the chorus has that anthemic quality I always strive for with rock n roll songs. I tried to capture the universal feeling of fighting for something and, whether or not you win that fight, knowing that change is gonna come either way.

"You know the times have changed, they never stay the same, but did it have to be so tough? You know we gave our best and never took a rest, but the best just wasn't enough."

After working really hard for something, do you ever stop and ask your self "did that really have to be that tough??". I sure as shit do.

In the second verse, I try to tame the part of me that's constantly looking back on my former self in judgement. Did I do enough? Did I work hard enough? Was I kind enough?

"Not me, I wouldn't take it back, I wouldn't change a moment, not a single breath. I got no pain, no doubt, no regret."

For this song, I tried to say 'no regrets" as a statement of purpose, whether or not that's actually always true.

And then there's the "whoa" section, which is just fun and catchy as hell. We had one helluva choir into sing that puppy! Corey, Melissa, Katie, Adam, Michael, Kyle and Kat.

Wasted was written back around 2010 or so, but when I first composed and performed it, it had a distinctly 50's rock feel. Heading into the RUN WILD sessions, and particularly in writing sessions with DANIEL WESLEY and Alexander, we decided it was much better to tighten it up into a more straight-ahead rocker with the palm-muted guitar in the verses, the closed down, four-on-the-floor drums and the big vocals in the chorus.

And of course, how else to put a song over the top in my books than to have my (tied for) favourite bud Maliyah singing her own rendition of it at the end of the track and on the secret track at the end of the album! I picked her up, held her close to the mic and she just belted that puppy out. One take. A lot more efficient than her old man, that's for sure. Also, this song became a family favourite of ours because singing it was the only way we could get little Tariq to stop screaming in the car on our family vacation last summer! Basically, it's ingrained in our psyche forever. hahaha.

Hey! Check out the art for my new album, 'Run Wild'. It was created by one of my favourite BC artists, Anne Griffiths. An amazing talent. Check her out here!

And my Vancouver album release show is at the Fox Cabaret on Saturday, April 21st. I can't wait. <a contents="Buy tickets now!
First and, by far most importantly, thanks to my wife Sajeeda for bringing us a new baby boy. Tariq joined the party on January 15th, which means he's almost one and becoming a very cool guy.

Thanks to my daughter Maliyah for being a smart, joyous, mischievous, kind and funny kid. She is everything to me. And, holy cow, she's already 4!

I made a new record this year, and it's the best one I've ever done. That's what I've been told anyway. I always think the newest record is the best one, ha.

Thanks to Creative BC for helping out with the funding. A huge thanks to Josh Denny-Keys, Alex Glassford, Mike Meroniuk and Kyle Hayes for continuing to contribute their creative talents to make my songs sound great.

Thanks to Jesse Gander for his relentless efforts and out-of-this-world engineering and producing talent. You guys are the best. And thanks again to Sajeeda for holding it together on the homestead while I'm in the studio, doing what I love.

I played a bunch of very cool shows this year. The most important was the fundraiser we did for the Overdose Prevention Society. More than 1,200 people have died this year. It's a crisis and a tragedy of massive proportions.

It's also been a hugely rewarding year in my work as a journalist at the CBC. The BC Election was a wild ride. For me, the most important work I did was my series called 'Major Misconduct: Why We Let Kids Fight On Ice' about the human fallout from fighting in junior hockey. Thanks to my bosses and colleagues at the CBC who made it possible and thanks to the people who shared their powerful stories with me.
Jeremy Allinghamtag:www.jeremyallingham.com,2005:Post/49644312017-12-05T20:45:45-08:002023-12-10T08:32:56-08:00Dinghy Dock show with Daniel Wesley
Had an awesome time playing a sold out Dinghy Dock Pub on Protection Island in Nanaimo with my buddy Daniel Wesley this weekend. My old man came over on the ferry with me and it was great to catch up with him and DW. Best moments were when I swore I heard someone in the crowd singing the backups for my Tom Petty cover, but it was actually just Daniel warming up outside, ripping my Christmas tune even though I hadn't played it in a year and Dan's impression of my dad (his high school guitar teacher): "Boys, you can play all the rock n roll you want, but you gotta have a ballad. The girls love the ballads." It was spot on.

Thanks to everyone who came out to support and to Andrew from Got Pop for putting on a great show. More announcements to come soon!

I was in studio at Rain City Recorders with my engineer / co-producer Jesse Gander four days in July and it was a helluva good time. The tunes are sounding amazing and I'm mega-pumped. After two big rehearsals the nights before the session, we had 12 tunes ready to go. I cut one, so we're done to 11. In the four days we completed all drums, all bass, all keys, all lead guitar and a couple of rhythm guitar tracks. Amazing work. Huge thanks to Josh Denny-Keys, Alex Glassford, Kyle Hayes and Mike Meroniuk who are such talented musicians and make my songwriting really come to life. Way to go, pals.

I'm especially excited for 'Wasted Too Long', 'Goin' Down', 'Run Wild' - all epic rock n roll songs in their own rite. Also 'Cowgirl', which is a tune I wrote about Maliyah when she was first born. Nothin' but hits! hahaha

Also had Saj, Maliyah and Tariq swing by to check things out and that was a thrill to have them there with me for a bit too!

I also did daily vlog updates on my Facebook page, so check those out for more!

I had an excellent week of songwriting with some of Vancouver's most talented musicians! Wednesday night was with producer hero Jesse Gander down at Rain City Recorders. We laid down some scratches and really dug into arrangement and production ideas. Strong shit. Thursday night in my parents' basement in Langley (!) with Daniel Wesley. Dan has an amazing knack for writing catchy hooks and he had some stellar ideas for two of my favourite songs on the upcoming record. He and I also turned a riff that I had considered scrapping into a big-old jam rock tune. Making some wicked progress and so excited to get into the studio.
Jeremy Allinghamtag:www.jeremyallingham.com,2005:Post/47237332017-05-26T13:31:24-07:002022-07-25T23:01:31-07:00New baby, New record, etc.
It's been a while since I've posted, so I wanted to give an update, Biltmore Benefit Show to now.

I've been mega busy at the CBC with the BC election chaos, and on the personal front (and way more importantly), raising a new baby. Tariq is four months old and going strong. I love him more and more every day.

Great news on the music front too, I`ve landed a grant from Creative BC to make my next record. Once again, I will be truly fortunate to be working with studio magician, producer extraordinaire, beloved friend and man of taste, Jesse Gander at Raincity Records. I`m currently working my bag off writing and honing the tunes for the new record with the help of the band and some of my closest musical confidants. Tracking is in July and August with mixing in September. Can`t wait to get back in there and lay these songs down. Here I am thinking about some tasty licks at Alex`s jam space.

Proceeds from this show will go to support the fight against the opioid overdose crisis affecting our friends, family and neighbours across Metro Vancouver. Too many people have died from what is a real and deadly epidemic. The new numbers will be out next week and the year will almost certainly end with more than 800 people having died. That number is staggering and more needs to be done. This will be our small way of trying to help out. So, let's try to address this mega-serious issue by having a bit of fun, a few beers and some rock 'n roll. Come on out and support a good and pressing cause!

She and the rest of her band are an inspiration when it comes to delivering messages of political resistance against authoritarian rule through music and for risking everything in order to do so. (She went to jail for nearly two years for the band's performance in the Russian Orthodox church in Moscow).

As I was walking her out, I asked her if she had seen what Green Day did at the American Music Awards the night before ("No Trump, No KKK, No Fascist USA"). Because she had arrived in Vancouver late that night, she hadn't seen it. I described what happened, and her face lit up. She looked genuinely pleased. Then, hilariously and stupidly, I said "...it was pretty gutsy.". I immediately realized who I was talking to, and quickly added, "...but I guess that's nothing compared to playing in a church in Moscow." Thankfully, she laughed and told me that any form of political message in music is really important and powerful. Masha, thank you for your work, your sacrifice and for your graciousness. I was told I could "probably fix it myself" and obviously that was an inane statement because I can't fix anything myself. I can barely string my guitars (that's only slightly hyperbolic - it takes a long, long time. ha).

So the record player sat there and then in January we moved. Finally, I got it fixed and set it up this week, and man am I ever relieved and pumped. Earlier tonight I had the misfortune and embarrassment of having to admit to my guests that my record collection was not in alphabetical order. Sooooo, after they left and I bathed Maliyah, read to her and put her to bed, I got down to it. Ahhh, the cathartic OCD massage that is record organizing.

I have a philosophy when it comes to vinyl records: Because of their cost and size, I only purchase records that I REALLY like. So I wouldn't call myself a collector at all. I only own albums that, to me, are the grade A shit. Obviously there are big holes in my collection, and I will continue to build it through my lifetime, (and I need a bunch of new stuff!) but here's what it's lookin' like as of right now:

AC/DC - Highway to Hell (dick rock can be good)
At the Drive-In - Relationship of Command (for trashing the house or cleaning it (after trashing it?))
Bryan Adams - Cuts Like A Knife (he's a butt head about CANCON, but an undeniable legend)
Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker (in my top 10 of all-time, but the opening track proves what a dick he is and I hate that it's a double)
Ryan Adams - Demolition (he has the worst, most arrogant stage banter in the business, and also some of the best songs)
Ryan Adams - Cardinology (that Taylor Swift thing he did made me hate him so much. but often, hate is borne from love)
Band of Horses - Infinite Arms (majestic grandeur)
Band of Horses - Mirage Rock (can't wait to see them at the Orpheum next month!)
The Beach Boys - Endless Summer (the standard for pop rock)
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Beat The Devil's Tattoo (weird that I have this one and not the others, which I love, but I bought it at a show at the Showbox in Seattle and it hand't come out yet, so I spazzed and yelled that I would pay $35 for it and the merch girl relented. ha.)
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Live (I am not a great fan of live albums, but I love BRMC enough to own this)
Bonnie "Prince" Billy - I See A Darkness (present from my boy MDK. Another strange genius man whose talent is undeniable.)
Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Beware (Ive always loved the opening line of the record "I want to be your only friend. Is that scary?" He is so good. Insane and good.)
Buck 65 - Square (I had a huge man crush on Bucky from about 2002 - 2007. Saw a bunch of shows and met him a number of times. Even did an interview. He has shown himself to be not such a great guy in recent years, so this record has nostalgic value but doesn't end up on the turntable much.)
JJ Cale - Naturally (Likely my favourite album of all time. Saj and I danced to 'Magnolia' for the first dance at our wedding. Legendary song writer, perfect subtlety and tenderness.)
JJ Cale - Grasshopper (Doesn't have the magic of Naturally for me, but still, a bunch of very cool shit on here.)
JJ Cale - Troubadour (Love him. RIP.)

to be continued....Jeremy Allinghamtag:www.jeremyallingham.com,2005:Post/42710752016-07-08T22:14:19-07:002022-07-26T02:31:10-07:00FVMA Showcase and the VIP Fan

Had the good pleasure of playing an intimate, solo acoustic show out at Old Abbey Ales in a showcase of Fraser Valley Music Award nominees a couple of weekends back. It was a beautiful day at a great little brewery and a bunch of kind folks were out to support. But most importantly for me, was getting to play for my little buddy, Maliyah. My girl came out in a tie-dye shirt, got into the free popcorn, made a couple of friends and danced her ass off.

She and I play guitar and sing and dance around the house all the time, but getting to see her see me performing live was a thrill. She saw me play once before live on CBC Radio when she was about 8-months-old, but obviously that doesn't really count.

When the show started, she began by sitting quietly, but then as the performance went on and she recognized the songs more and more, the dance party began. At one point she came roasting out of the venue with a massively excited smile on her face and she turned and seemed to be headed straight for the parking lot (I was playing outside facing into the venue through a large garage door). I nearly panicked and dropped the guitar, but then my mom (grandma!) grabbed her and everything was fine. Somehow the song that I was playing was still on the rails and seemed to have been progressing nicely. Auto pilot!! Ha!

Also, playing Factories & Alleyways' '1000 Beers' at brewery was highly satisfying. And for some reason, the concert listings always grabbed my attention. I was super interested, not only in who the bands were coming to town, but what these amazing sounding venues were all about. Firstly, the announcers always used to call Richard's on Richard's "Dick's on Dick's", and for that reason, I thought it was a gay bar that hosted rock shows until I was at least 15 or 16-years-old. You can laugh, but it makes sense, does it not?!

The other place that they would always mention was the FABULOUS COMMODORE BALLROOM. They almost always added the "fabulous" and that messed with my mind so deeply. What was this place? How could it be so incredible that radio DJs casually added the word "fabulous" to the title? Not only did I want to find out more, but I wanted to visit this place, and eventually perform there. (I had just started taking bass guitar lessons around that age.) Before even truly knowing what it was, the lore had been planted inside my brain and the personal gauntlet had been laid.

Once I turned 19, I found out what the hype was all about. The room, the sound, the bouncy floor, that feeling you get that you're at the only event that matters in the city. I went to the Ballroom at every possible opportunity. I've been fortunate enough to see The White Stripes, Matthew Good, Buck 65, Jurassic 5, Bad Religion, The Casualties, Lagwagon, Pennywise, The Gaslight Anthem, Glasvegas, Andrew WK, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Ryan Adams, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and many more.

Even more importantly, The Commodore is where I was able to see two of my most crucial musical idols perform on stage. I saw Jim James and My Morning Jacket perform to a half-empty (WTF?!) Commodore with my pal Julia and I saw the incomparable JJ Cale play there with my old man. Those nights were legendary and magical and only made me want to play that stage even more.

When my great friend Daniel Wesley asked me to play the Commodore with him, I was blown away. I was buzzing for weeks and weeks, but it didn't seem real. There were moments when it sunk in a bit -- when tickets went on sale on Ticketmaster, when CFOX called me for an interview about the show, when the Live Nation promoter asked what kind of beer I wanted in my dressing room, when we loaded our gear into the back alley elevator -- but the moment it really sunk in is when I saw my name on the dressing room door. That was wild.

The feeling I had right before I stepped on stage was "holy fuck, think of the legends who have played this stage and room before you, it's time to prove you belong up there". So I went up there and tried to do just that.

When you're performing, it's super difficult to truly take stock of what's happening and enjoy the moment, but I know we played great and left it all on that vaunted stage. The sound was spectacular and the room was packed. It was one of the best nights of my musical life and I'm forever grateful for the opportunity to achieve a life-long goal.

And as if the night hadn't been extraordinary enough, I also had the opportunity to join Daniel Wesley on stage during the show to perform our old high school band's song 'Can't Find A Way' which was a "huge hit" back when General Mayhem used to play sold out shows at the Ocean Beach Hotel when we were in the process of winning the XFM battle of the bands! We hadn't played that tune with a full band in 15 years and it was a huge rush to do it in front of such a massive crowd. I was born and raised in Langley and I still spend tonnes of time there with friends and family. It was a thriving scene of hard-working musicians back when I lived there and, clearly, it still is today. One of the main reasons I love music so much in the first place is Langley's Coffee Jam punk rock concerts that were every Friday night in the ABC rooms at the Civic Centre growing up. My old man would drop me off (by myself!) with $20 for a t-shirt and come back to get me around 11. In between, I was moshing around and generally being a weird little 13-year-old dickweed, but more importantly, I was falling in love with the energy and passion of live music. I still feel it in my bones all of these years later, and to be recognized by this awesome new organization of music supporters in the Valley feels really great. A huge thank you goes out to CIVL radio for championing this and for nominating me.Jeremy Allinghamtag:www.jeremyallingham.com,2005:Post/41649642016-05-03T22:42:46-07:002022-07-26T02:35:17-07:00Shirts are in!

Lookin' crisp.

The t-shirts are in and they're looking good. Buy yours now in the JA store! Jeremy Allinghamtag:www.jeremyallingham.com,2005:Post/41468302016-04-20T23:42:52-07:002022-07-26T02:35:46-07:00Big time play on CBC Radio across Canada!

Teenage Autumn Nights filling up the CBC R1 airwaves this week!

The legendary Railway Club is closing down. It's a sad day for the music scene and the city.

I have had some of the best times of my life at the Railway Club. I performed there at least a couple of dozen times with Like A Martyr, Factories & Alleyways and solo. I saw some of the best the local scene and the country have to offer, and we straight up got after it on many occasions.

What a great room, and what a bunch of amazing (though sometimes hazy) memories that were made there. I'll always remember having to carry gear up those brutal stairs and then storing it in the back "Malkovich room". Then (!) when it was your turn to go on around midnight, you had to haul that gear back to the front through huge crowds of drunk people. ANXIETY. But the shows were great because it was intimate, and really, just a comfortable space. It was a place to let loose. The regulars left much to be desired, but they brought character, and that's something Vancouver needs more of.

There have been concerns throughout the industry about the direction the place took in recent years, but either way, we'll all miss it.
I'm extremely proud to present to you my debut full-length solo album, MEMORY ELECTRIC. It's been a long time coming. This collection of ten songs was built on hardwork and sacrifice, but also (and most importantly) laughter, joy, togetherness and love.

"Memory Electric brings together Allingham's talents as both a musician and a journalist, focusing on the two professions' common thread: storytelling. On the new record, he captures universal experiences like striving to belong, growing up, loving and losing love — though he doesn't shy away from getting political on certain songs, either. "Money Gods" shares the story of concerned citizens facing off against corporate oil giants, while "The Brinkmen" hears him waxing poetic on the uphill fight against climate change.

Drawing on classic musical reference points ranging from Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young to Radiohead and Ryan Adams, Allingham manages to carve out a space for his songs that is all his own."
Jeremy Allinghamtag:www.jeremyallingham.com,2005:Post/40593212016-02-24T23:53:41-08:002022-07-26T00:15:26-07:00Album Release Show tickets in finer record stores now!

Ben Frith of Neptoon Records stockin' JA album release show tickets!

Tickets to my March 18th album release show at The Biltmore Cabaret are now available at some of Vancouver's finest record stores. My good friend Dan Rossnagel (aka Daniel Wesley) and I were primed for a good one. After a couple of crisp Coors Lights (my choice not his) at my place, we headed to the Downtown Eastside. Our nostalgic teenage-punk-rock memory-fueled excitement was curtailed, only briefly when we had to wait a half hour to get into the venue! WTF!? The lineup was for ticket holders. Harsh. Anyway, all good.

We were a bit bummed to miss our buddy Cam Strudwick who had opened with his band Burning Ghats . That must've been amazing to open for the greatest Canadian punk rock band of all-time. Needless to say, we were beyond STOKED!

Once we finally got inside, the night really took off. We hustled and muscled through the crowd and down to the beer line on the floor stage left and things were shaping up nicely. Dan and I used to play in a high school band called General Mayhem, and before that, we played in a punk rock cover band in our drummer Daryl's garage in Langley. We used to play covers of Pennywise, Lagwagon, The Vandals, NOFX (all of that good California shit)...never any Propagandhi (that I can remember -- probably too advanced technically!), but of course at the show, lo and behold, we run into our old guitarist Joey Placek. Wicked high school punk band reunion. Mega laughs and high fives had by all.

The Rickshaw was absolutely buzzing with energy. The only other times I can remember an energy like that was seeing Japandroids in Toronto at The Phoenix and Refused on their comeback tour at The Vogue.

Propagandhi was relentless and incredibly impressive musically. I forgot how technical they are. New guitarist, Sulynn Hago was outstanding and passionate. Chris Hannah's speed and accuracy was mind-blowing. Bassist Todd Kowalski rocked amazing style going with cloth cargo shorts, runners, a shirt that read "Let's Hug It Out". He looked like a dad (on copious caffeine) who was ready to mow the lawn on a Sunday afternoon. Let's just say, too, that Kowalski leads the league in fist pumps. Drummer Jord Samolesky was devastating and locked in on tempos, laying the bed for the guitar shreddage.

The show could've easily been awesome fueled by nostalgia alone, but it was so, so much more. So happy to have been there and experience the Canadian punk rock legends.

Jeremy Allinghamtag:www.jeremyallingham.com,2005:Post/40035562016-01-23T01:11:02-08:002020-09-11T22:12:18-07:00Shareefer Madness

I'm a musician. I'm a journalist. I'm also a big, big, dorky NBA fan. I love hoops with a big passion. Played some high-caliber ball in high school and early on in college and have been an NBA addict for years and years now. To give you an idea of how bad it is, this year I purposely DID NOT order League Pass (the cable package that gives you every game) because it is too much of a distraction and I become at risk of squandering every spare moment, killing all productivity and creativity. Ha. A couple of times last year, I caught myself watching garbage games like Sixers vs Bucks or Pistons vs Nets. Brutal. An obsession is an obsession though.

So today, at work (Im currently producing On the Coast on CBC Radio One in Vancouver) we had the opportunity to interview Shareef Abdur-Rahim. He was the greatest Vancouver Grizzlies player of all-time. That's not saying much because the team was awful, but it was cool to have him into studio. The one rub is that he's in town to promote an NBA all-star event (the game is in Toronto this year) and inherent in the marketing of it is the assumption that Vancouver hoops fans should be latching onto the Toronto Raptors because they happen to exist within the borders of the same country, 3,000 km east of us (WE THE NORTH YAY).

As someone who is still bitter about losing the Grizzlies to Memphis, I find this annoying / barring on offensive. ANYWAY, I could go on for thousands of words about this. It was cool to meet Shareef, even though most of my memories of him were missing key shots in clutch moments that could've won the Grizzlies a few more games. Whatever, he was young and under a lot of pressure to carry a struggling, young franchise (that for some reason was not allowed to have the #1 pick in its first years of existence??? Thanks a lot, Stern!)

This is not related to music, but it is really funny. Look how thrilled Shareef was to meet me!! hahahahaha. Thanks, Reef!

Jeremy Allinghamtag:www.jeremyallingham.com,2005:Post/40017862016-01-22T00:05:21-08:002022-07-26T00:12:24-07:00Introducing "Memory Electric"

The Allingham family up and moved north east this past week. All the way from beautiful Mount Pleasant, to the lovely north end of Commercial Drive. It's been a bit of a bumpy road! During the move from our apartment, our TV, mirror and table were stolen (most likely by one of our 5th floor neighbours!). When we arrived at our new place, neither the couch, nor the entertainment unit would fit up the narrow stairs. That unit was where I kept the vinyl, man! And then, on our 4th night in the new place, our parkade, car and storage locker were broken into by some rude dickheads. For a day or so there we were feeling like maybe we aren't supposed to be here...in this house, in this neighbourhood...but now that we've had some time to settle down and shake it off, we're starting to feel the Commercial vibe.

And now, it's the final road to the release of my debut full-length solo record, "Memory Electric". This one came out of me, dedicated to my daughter Maliyah (or whomever was going to come into the world) well before she was born. I wrote it even before I knew Saj was pregnant. It was during that time where the desire to have a kid washed over me and my life, and just kind of took everything over. Every action, every thought seemed to be geared to it. It was emotional and powerful (it was evolution). The song expresses the fear and uncertainty that come with that longing to share your life with a kid. I have a lot of anxiety and I was scared that I would pass that along to her. But in the uplifting choruses, there's a resoluteness and promises are made.

"And the leaves will bow down, when you walk by with me / Those ships will crash and sink into the sea / Before I let you down, I'll make you stronger / Lay your head upon my shoulder / Love will never die...tonight."

Jeremy Allingham
